Spain – Mauritania Business Meeting

On April 16, Marta Blanco, President of the International Relations Commission of CEOE, participated as a speaker at the Spain–Mauritania Business Meeting.
The event brought together a high-level delegation from Mauritania led by the Mauritanian Minister of Equipment and Transport, Ely El Veirick, and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to Spain, Zeineb Mint Ely Salem. Also participating during the event were the President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, José Luis Bonet, the Director General for Economic and Commercial Intelligence, Juan Luis Gimeno, and the presidents of the Spanish-Mauritanian Bilateral Business Council (CAMES), Ana Suárez and Mohamed Waled.
During her speech, Marta Blanco stressed the need to consolidate a long-term strategic alliance between the two countries, highlighting Mauritania’s potential in sectors such as renewable energy, energy resources, water desalination, and mining, as well as the technical and management capabilities of Spanish companies to contribute to transformative projects in connectivity, energy, and water.
In this regard, she positively assessed the efforts of the Mauritanian Government to improve governance and the business environment, while also calling for progress toward a stable, transparent, and predictable regulatory framework.
Finally, she emphasized the need for strong institutional support so that companies can take advantage of existing opportunities, overcoming unfounded perceptions of risk. She also welcomed the creation of a new OFECOME office in Mauritania, while stressing the importance of continuing to hold bilateral meetings that facilitate access to information, funding, and projects, as a key factor in deepening business and public-private relations between Spain and Mauritania.
